Editorial Standards & Sources

Our approach

Healthy Food Stockpile aims to help readers make practical decisions about pantry foods, storage, meal preparation and household planning. Our standard is useful guidance with clear sources, meaningful qualifications and no invented experience.

Evidence and attribution

For food safety and storage advice, we prioritize relevant public-health authorities and instructions for the specific product or packaging. Where guidance differs by country or circumstance, we identify the scope that matters to the reader.

For nutrition, we distinguish reference values from the label on a particular product. For cost comparisons, we explain the prices, quantities, preparation assumptions and other factors that can change the result. An illustrative calculation is not a promise of savings.

Important limitations belong beside the claim they qualify—not only in a disclaimer at the bottom of a page.

Tests, examples and images

We distinguish documented tests from suggestions, calculations and fictional examples. A spreadsheet demonstration does not establish that a household has used the tool. A meal is not described as kitchen-tested without a documented test.

Illustrations are not proof of cooking, product handling or personal experience. Downloadable tools may depend on manual entries; their instructions should explain material limitations and the effects of missing or incorrect information.

Food safety and individual needs

Our content provides general information, not individualized medical or clinical nutrition advice. Storage and handling requirements can change when packaging is opened or food is prepared. We do not treat best-before quality information as a stand-alone safety test.

Readers should follow applicable official guidance and product instructions, and seek qualified advice for individual health needs.

Corrections and updates

If you notice a factual error, unclear instruction or broken resource, email eric@healthyfoodstockpile.com with the page URL and the relevant detail. A source supporting the correction is helpful when available.

Our policy is to correct material errors and clearly explain corrections that change a reader’s decision or safety interpretation. We do not promise a fixed review schedule or response time.
